The Weymouth Town Charities run an educational trust for young people from the Weymouth & Portland area and also low cost accommodation for the elderly people of Weymouth & Portland. The trust is split into two groups of charities:
Sir Samuel Mico’s Charities
- Provides educational grants to young people aged between 16 and 24.
- Supports those undertaking apprenticeships .
- Operates scholarship schemes.
- Provides pensions to seaman who have sailed before the mast.
Sir Henry Edwards’ Charities
- Provides low cost accommodation to the older residents of Weymouth & Portland, who can no longer afford to own, or rent a property.
- Provides an annual dinner to the persons in its accommodation
Sanderson Wells Confidential Assistance Fund
The Sanderson Wells Confidential Assistance Fund has recently joined the Weymouth Town Charities family of local charities.
