Weymouth Town Charities (WTC) would like to hear from individuals who would be interested in being considered for a trustee vacancy. The vacancy is occurring due to a long standing trustee stepping down in December after many years with the trust. WTC would particularly like to hear from anyone with either property management/maintenance experience, or experience of working with young people in an educational, sport or developmental role.
The board of trustees manage charitable funds dating back as far as 1666. This is spilt into two groups of charities, the Sir Samuel Mico Charities which provides scholarships, educational and developmental grants to around 100 young people aged 16 to 24 each year and the Sir Henry Edwards Charities which provides low cost accommodation (32 properties) to elderly people who can not afford to own, or rent a property.
The trustee position is honorary and does not attract any remuneration. Trustees need to reside, or have occupation, or employment in, or other special knowledge of the borough of Weymouth & Portland. For an informal discussion about the Charities please call the Chairman, Gary Hepburn on 01305 778169
To express an interest send a letter stating why you would like to become a trustee together with an up to date CV to: Howard Jones, Clerk to The Trustees, Weymouth Town Charities, 26 St Thomas Street, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 8EJ. The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 28th October 2016. Interviews will be undertaken sometime in November.
